Google unable to verify my site

Google webmaster tools message they can’t verify my site. I have followed the direction on how to use Webmaster Tools for Google on my WordPress site. It’s not working when I copy the content values as directed. The Theme I use, Coraline, can not be altered, meaning I can’t get to the header html code to embed the full meta name into my sites Home page, as Google directs. So I am stuck and extremely frustrated. I just want to make sure my site is search-able through Google and that I get a read on my site stats.

OK, after posting this I tried entering my site on google not as it is registered through my domain, http://www.onafoododyssey.com, but rather as http://www.onafoododyssey.worpress.com and VOILA that worked. Though I’m still not sure if both addresses will be tracked by google or if one redirects to the other. Whatever, my site is now verified by Google so I should not get stats and be “crawled” by spiders.
