    I followed directions to verify my site on google webmaster, but kept getting message saying that verification failed. I try to confirm ownership of the site, but WordPress is not listed as one of the domain hosts.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    I see that under Tools > Available Tools in your dashboard, you have a .html file name listed in the Google Webmaster Verification box. When verifying your site, please make sure you follow the directions listed here: Google Webmaster Tools

    When you add a site in Google Webmaster Tools, you will be presented with several verification methods. Do not use the HTML file upload option. Instead, be sure to choose the Alternate Methods tab, and then select “Add a meta tag to your site’s home page.”

    You should have a meta tag that looks something like this:

    <meta name='google-site-verification' content='dBw5CvburAxi537Rp9qi5uG2174Vb6JwH'/>

    You will need to copy the content value (the string of letters and numbers) from that meta tag to paste in the box under Tools > Available Tools in your dashboard. In the example above, the content value is this: dBw5CvburAxi537Rp9qi5uG2174Vb6JwH

    If you have any questions about this, please let me know!

    Thanks! It worked. I was using the HTML option.
