Gravatar vs Blog photo
-
Can someone tell me the difference between the Gravatar and Blog photos?
Also I have a photo in both and I would like it to appear next to my blog entry but neither does. I believe it’s possible but not sure how. Any help?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do have Avatars set to show. It mentions that they will show on avatar enable sites. I’m not sure where to check if mine is enabled.

And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

Thanks. I saw the first link prior to posting but not the second. I think I understand the difference between the two. I plan on having 10-15 authors on the blog and would like for their photo to show next to their posts.
I think I’m learning that this is theme based. I’m still searching but am I on the right track? My test blog does not show the photo. -
Author avatars don’t show next to the actual posts: they show in the sidebar if you activate the Authors widget.
Many themes don’t even display the author’s name in the post metadata – see here:

I did see that list about which themes show authors.
Some example sites found here; http://en.wordpress.com/features/ show posts with authors photos next to the title.
One is http://allthingsd.com/
Another site is http://hoklife.com/ (but I’m not sure if it’s WordPress)Are these just custom templates that I would have to somehow create on my own?
-
neither of those sites is WordPress.com, and you wouldn’t be able to make that happen here unless you simply had the authors ADD their own pictures in the body of the post. If they save the code with alignment and borders and so on as a text document on their desktops, they could just copy and paste it every time.

Check out my link; http://en.wordpress.com/features/
In the blue box you’ll find; “You’re in good company You’d be surprised who’s blogging on WordPress.com. We host CNN’s Political Ticker; Dow Jones’ All Things D;…”
So http://allthingsd.com/ is WordPress.com, right?
-
Possibly; if it is, it’s a VIP blog, which is exempt from the restrictions we non-VIPs have. For instance, you can see ads on those sites. Effectively, they’re not the same kind of blogs as we have.
If you have half a million or more hits per month and $600 each month, you can have a blog like that. Otherwise, what I said above applies.
