gravatar.com – Email confirmation broken

  Trying to connect and replace my old avatar in gravatar.com. After a success log in it says:

  ‘We sent you a confirmation email! … in this email you will find a link that, when clicked, will bring you back to a confirmation page … ‘

  I check may mails. first nothing received. then after hitting the Resend Button from https://wordpress.com/help/contact I get the mail. I hit the link. it takes me back to the wordpress website where it says: ‘Thanks for confirming your email address…’

  I try to change my avatar. it takes me to gravatar.com. I login by hitting ‘Sign in with wordpress.com account’ it takes me to step 1:

  ‘We sent you a confirmation email! … in this email you will find a link that, when clicked, will bring you back to a confirmation page … ‘
