Guided Transfer – CSS Changes

Can anyone please offer any advice. I currently have a site on WordPress.com which I have upgraded to the ‘Premium’ package which has allowed me to change some of the CSS to change the look and feel of the site. I now need to migrate the site to WordPress.org to allow some required plugins such as having a members area. I have exported my current site and imported it into .org and changed the theme to the same theme as I had in .com (Goran) but the changes that I made to the original CSS have not applied to the .org version. Is there a way to apply these changes? If not if I pay for WordPress to carry out a ‘Guided Transfer’ will these changes also be carried over?

You will have to copy the CSS out of your WordPress.com Customizer and then add it in on your new site.
If you have not yet done so, I would suggest creating a child theme so that any customizations you make will not be overwritten by a future theme update. Alternately you can use the Edit CSS function in the Jetpack plugin, or use one of the other Custom CSS plugins that will keep CSS changes from being overwritten.

I should also mention that there could be some changes that will not work on the new self-hosted install since there are some differences between the themes here at WordPress.com and the themes for Self-hosted WordPress installations.

That’s great, thanks for your response, I had tried to find a way to copy the CSS rules over but couldn’t find it. Your message steered me in the right direction of Jetpack and I am now getting the same results on .org as my current site on .com
