Guided Transfer to wordpress.org

    I was going to do a self-guided transfer from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I purchased a host site through blue host and I installed wordpress. I am currently in the process of redirecting my domaine name from wordpress.com to wordpress.org (this became a nightmare that is now in its 8th day with our website down). I would like to purchase ‘guided transfer’ to move our data to the new site as I want to make sure it happens correctly and that our website looks the same as it did but I do not need a new host site set up for me as I already went through the steps to purchase BlueHost and install wordpress.org. Is this possible? How do I reach someone to discuss this process? Thank you

    Yes, that’s possible. Any existing content on your WordPress.org site would be overwritten during the transfer process and replaced with the new content (from your WordPress.com site).

    The content can also be transferred without using Guided Transfer. To do this, you would need to export the content from your WordPress.com site using these steps:

    Export your website’s content

    The export file(s) can then be imported into your WordPress.org site.

    I want to make sure it happens correctly and that our website looks the same as it did

    Premium themes purchased here can’t be transferred as they are only valid on WordPress.com. We have more information about this on our Guided Transfer support documentation:

    Thank you, we did not purchase a premium theme, we are using “Stay” by automatic. Do you know if that will transfer? I have not moved any content as yet from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I am still unable to log into my wordpress.org account although I transferred my domain Monday morning. I keep seeing a dummy BlueHost webpage every time I try to login.

    I cannot transfer the content myself as every time I try to export the transfer file to my computer I get the error message:
    “The XML file cannot be opened because there is no available data view (XSLT). Unspecified error. Location 21”.

    Can you help with this?

    we are using “Stay” by automatic. Do you know if that will transfer?

    There is a version of the Stay theme available for WordPress.org, so you should be able to use it on your new site.

    I just want to double check — what is the URL of the site you want to export? I’ll take a look at why you are seeing this error.

    There are no domains owned by the account you are logged in to. Which domain have you transferred?
