Has anyone been charged by Hexweb via WordPress?
-
I was experimenting with WordPress and the AI feature. I have not paid for anything since I was just trying it out. Yesterday, I saw a charge for Hexweb for $26. I don’t know what Hexweb is. I don’t recall subscribing to anything they offer. They call themselves a “WordPress Web Design & Development Agency”. I was wondering if this had something to do with WordPress’s free AI trial, but I never gave anyone my credit card information.
I went to their website to see if I could find out what this is about, and there is nothing that indicates that you can access an account on their website. I never received an email from them to say they were charging me or that I subscribed to something.
Does anyone have advice about this?

That does not sound like something directly related to WordPress.com’s free AI features.
WordPress.com itself would normally bill under names connected to WordPress.com, and you would typically receive:
– a purchase confirmation email,- an invoice/receipt,
– and see the purchase listed under your WordPress.com account purchases.
If you never entered payment information into a third-party service and suddenly received a charge from “Hexweb,” I would treat this cautiously until you can confirm what it is.A few things I’d recommend:
1. Check your bank/credit card statement carefully to see: – the exact merchant name, – whether it is pending or completed, – and if there is any contact information attached.
2. Search your email (including spam/junk folders) for: – “Hexweb” – “invoice” – “subscription” – “WordPress” – “receipt”
3. Verify whether you may have accidentally signed up for a hosting, theme, SEO, AI, or website service during testing.
4. Log into your WordPress.com account and check: – Purchases – Billing History – Connected services
5. If you genuinely do not recognize the charge:
– contact your bank/card provider immediately,
– ask them to investigate the transaction,
– and consider freezing/replacing the card if necessary.
Since you mentioned never providing card details directly, it’s possible the charge may have originated from:
– a saved payment method elsewhere,
– a third-party checkout,
– or an unauthorized transaction unrelated to WordPress.com itself.
I would not assume this is connected to the free AI trial unless you can confirm the charge appears inside your official WordPress.com billing history.

Hi @trelawneydawn!
I can confirm that if you were only experimenting with the AI website builder and did not upgrade to a paid plan or purchase any other subscription, there would not be any charges associated with your WordPress.com site.
I’ve also taken a look on my end, and I don’t see any purchases associated with your WordPress.com account.
Thank you as well for the information you shared @guduvhenio. If this is a charge you don’t recognize or believe you did not authorize, I would also recommend contacting your bank for further assistance.
Please let us know if you have any more questions!
