Has anyone ever had a WP ID error?
-
I am the webmistress of a WP site. Word Press recently sent me an email saying that they were basically acknowledging they were aware I had been at my own website & welcoming me as a new subscriber!
This was obviously an identification error. I would like to tell them that, but I can’t seem to locate any email addy/contact form.
The reason why this is an issue is that when I signed up, the system only allowed me to use a certain series of numbers behind my name. I find this both alarming & weird. I wonder if there isn’t something more afoot. -
Hi there,
Can you please past the content of that email here so I can have a look and better understand what happened?
-
I’m sorry. I threw it out after I read it.
You can’t just block anymore of the emails like this? -
Okay…my mistake!
I actually have saved the email from Word Press that’d relevant to this issue. However then, I need aWP email address to send it to from you. -
Can you please tell us the FROM address of the email, and paste the subject line and content in a reply here in the forum?
-
It says from Lisa’s Corner,
(email visible only to moderators and staff)It’s just an emailer to me,
(email visible only to moderators and staff)I’ll see if I can do the rest of what you asked later.
I need help on that. I just didn’t want to take too long to respond. -
Hm, interesting.
You did recently subscribe to your own site, but that was almost a month ago.
What was the date of the email?
-
I DID NOT subscribe to my own website. The notice that erroneously said I did was dated June 26th, 2020. What I did was work on my website after subscribing to another Word Press website called “Rose Rambles”. I’ve been a subscriber by your own records if you look for a couple years.
This is FYI. I would like to see this matter rectified, please.
Thank you very much. -
That’s the date you subscribed to your own site. :)
You can control that via https://wordpress.com/following/manage
If you did not do this yourself, it mean someone else with access to your account did.
In which case, I recommend changing your password: https://wordpress.com/me/security/password
Make sure it’s a strong password: https://wordpress.com/support/security/#strong-password
And setting up two-step authentication: https://wordpress.com/support/security/two-step-authentication/
