Have Lost Access To My Website and Need To Cancel My Subscription
-
Hello,
I recently switched over my website to be hosted by Squarespace. As a result, I was looking for a way to cancel my plan. However, I was having account issues and it was saying that an account with my e-mail did not exist, which was very puzzling because I have received e-mails from WordPress regarding account information.
What has created the main issue is that I decided to temporarily redirect the URL to Google to avoid people seeing the old, outdated website. However, this means that I am no longer able to login to my website as a collaborator and change things, as the URL redirect to a non-existent Google page. Is there any way for me to contact the company directly to help sort this out? I would hate to keep paying for a website that isn’t even being used. Soon the domain will be transferred to my new website and I have no idea how I will be able to access my old website then either.

Hi there,
What is the address/domain of the site you need help with? The account you’re using to post here was created only minutes before you posted this thread, and has never owned any sites or upgrades with WordPress.com.

The address is domain is iuphichitheta.com. The account used to post was made for the sake of posting because I am no longer able to access the account used to edit the website.
-
I believe the billing is just for the domain. My organization pays WordPress to be able to keep the actual website and edit it whenever.

That site has no connection at all with WordPress.com, so you’re not paying us for anything regarding that domain.
And WordPress is the name of the free software used to make your site, not a company. That software is maintained by a community of volunteers on WordPress.org, and belongs to the non-profit WordPress Foundation, so you’re not paying them for anything related to the website either.
You are paying Bluehost for your domain, and for a hosting account that allows you to have the WordPress software installed on their servers. If you’re paying anyone else for anything regarding the site, it would be an independent web development agency, but we have no way of telling you who that might be.

Oh wow, looks like I was totally misinformed! I will look into this situation further! Thanks for all the help so far!

Out of curiosity, if WordPress is free software used to make the site, what are the following paid plans advertised on WordPress for?
-
The WordPress.org software is available for free. WordPress.com is a hosting company just like BlueHost is: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
