having a really hard time comments_template();

    Hi! I’m using the below code to add a comment section to a post, but for some reason it doesn’t seem to register the comments through the usual channels. I have a buddypress installation for example and it doesn’t register any mentions to the activity stream from the comments_template(); section of the page. Also there is something that is supposed to email on reply’s to posts that doesn’t work either. I’m guessing it all has to do with a queue somewhere in wordpress that doesn’t receive information from this section. at least in the same way as it does every other comment page. I’m really not sure how to go about correcting this. any help would be greatly appreciated.
