Having trouble setting up profile

I began setting up a new WordPress site a couple weeks ago. When setting up my profile, I include my name, address, email address, etc and then press ‘Update profile’ and I receive the following message ‘ERROR: Please enter an email address.’ But I did enter an email address. For the last two weeks, it has also said ‘there is a pending change’ to my email address but WordPress is not recognizing it for some reason. It’s a gmail account so it shouldn’t be a problem.
