Having trouble with site appearance after upgrading to custom design Option!

Dear sirs, I just upgraded my design account to allow font and CSS changes. I was able to make font changes successfully, however, in doing so the enter title and tag line was lowered and now doesn’t look correct. The title needs to somehow be centered right and heighth wise as before but I am unable to make the adjustment.
With this new editing of the fonts, it somehow has not only lowered the title on the page but has also created the background on the upper right side of the page to disappear. I am unable to remedy this problem as well.
Is there an option to change text color such as the title, tag line, category names and article titles please?
Lastly, with the design upgrade and ability to amend the CSS, does this only allow one to add their own code in the editor? Or is there somehow an option that lets you make minimal edits to the original template?
