Help can’t get access to our wordpress

We are unable to log in to our wordpress account. Had a local guy get us started with a web sight many years ago. He used his email and pass word as a log in but never gave it to us. He has since moved away and we can not locate him and I don’t think his email is any good anymore. We need to change to our email and our pass word so we can work on the back end of our sight. We are getting a 500 era and can’t fix it. I pay for and own the web sight. We have just switched to Godaddy and they can’t do anything to help us until we get access into my account. What to do??
