help changing to wordpress.org
-
I think I might have done something very terrible. I wanted to change to wordpress.org and I just successfully installed it. I didn’t save my wordpress.com files. Can I upload my old posts from my wordpress.com site????

You can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
Just make sure that you access the Dashboard at your old WordPress.com blog URL.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
http://wordpress.org/support/
http://codex.wordpress.org/We do offer yearly and one-time premium support packages for self-hosted WordPress sites through our VIP program, available at http://vip.wordpress.com

Okay, that sounds promising. But, I can’t access my old WordPress site. How do I access the dashboard at my old blog?

Okay, forget my last question. I did what the link said to do, but I’m not sure if the files transferred and I don’t know what to do next. I think this all means that my old blog is not lost and, if that’s the case, THANK YOU macmanx!!!!!! THANK YOU! I still may need to have a Happiness Engineer finish the job but if everything is working correctly, I’ll be very proud of myself! :)

No, the old blog is still here. You just need to follow this guide to export the old blog and import it to the new one: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
