Help developing initial site structure

  Hi,

  I am looking for some support with the initial configuration of a new website aimed to promote a range of digital learning tools at teachers and academics.

  I have a fairly robust understanding of what I want to achieve but I’m becoming increasingly frustrated with pinning it down as a site. Once the bare bones are in place I’ll be able to manage the site’s content but if anyone could help me get the initial structure in place, this would be great.

  What I want to be able to do is provide a search facility on the home page as one of the primary functions, together with a category list with which they can use in place of performing a search.

  The tools I am promoting will be added as ‘posts’, added to a minimum of 1 category, and tagged with any relevant keywords.

  For example, a video-based assessment tool would be found in the Video category, and the Quiz category, and may also be found when searching of filtering for Mobile app keyword etc.

  I want users to be able to leave a rating of each tool, and leave a review.

  I would like the site to be relatively simplistic, not too busy, so I don’t want numerous widgets promoting tools until they’ve narrowed down using the filters and search facilities, where then the tools may then be ordered by the highest rated.

  There’s some specific information I need each tool to contain within the post, so being able to customise the post labels etc would be a great help.

  Think of this site as like the Amazon.com for teaching tools.

  I’d greatly appreciate the support in getting this project off the ground, if you can help.

  I believe your best bet is to hire a web host and set up a wordpress.ORG software install. See: https://move.wordpress.com/find-a-new-host/

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.
