help loggin in

    I set up a new wordpress site a few days ago with my gmail email.

    I went to login at a later time and used ‘login with google’ and it created a new account for me tied to my gmail email address. Now, when I login on my laptop I CANNOT access the original WP site with my original login name. It bumps me into this secondary username/account that was set up for me when I tried to login with the Google widget. If I ‘delete’ the Google widget created account it uses the same email address (different user name) as the original and I don’t want to delete my website data. Help!

    Hi there,

    What is the URL of the site you created?

    If the login with Google feature created a new account for you, it means there was no existing WordPress.com account already associated with that email address.

    So either you created a WordPress.com account with a completely different email, possibly containing a typo, or you instead have a stand-alone WordPress site, not connected to WordPress.com in any way, using your Gmail address for the admin account specific to that site.

    If we know the site URL we can tell you which it is, and point you to the right place to regain access.
