Help me restore my hacked Layers WP site?

    Note: Layers WP has no forum, and extremely limited support (they typically take 48 hours to respond to support inquiries). I’ve been trying to get help with this issue for the past 2 weeks with very limited help.

    What’s up guys,

    So I spent a few weeks using Layers WP to design a cool website for my business over a year ago (2017), and my server got hacked, taking down all of my 15+ WordPress sites.

    My business site with Layers WP is the one I really need, and I’m trying to restore it to it’s previous glory (ie. looking decent and professional).

    The problem is, Layers WP support typically takes 30-48 hours to respond, and I believe they’re saying if I didn’t back it up previously using a tool like UpdraftPlus, then there’s nothing I can do and I have to start from scratch.

    I did do a manual backup via FTP various times, and I have the backed up folder with everything in it… supposedly since Layers WP is a theme plugin however, I can’t just reupload it to the server, there’s some WordPress voodoo I need to do with it (I have decent basic computer and wordpress knowledge, but I don’t know what they mean by this).

    This is the message they most recently sent me, on my options:

    You can only backup individual page templates/ layouts directly from Layers. You have to use a WordPress backup tool to get the content and so forth back. Not sure how you did it, but worth checking out this for future use. https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/

    Yes, you’ll have to install WordPress again, you won’t be able to just copy it. The database won’t see the files or know the folder structure.

    When you do the import from the link i sent you, remember that you need to make sure you have Layers Activated and also the pages set to use the Layers Template. Also reset your permalinks to make sure it’s using the new folder and link structure. Make sure the pages exist under Pages itself and check the permalinks for those pages vs what you typing in your address bar.

    Looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the self-hosted version of WordPress and you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums:
