HELP — My website disappeared!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I was making modifications in the general settings of my website because I wanted to see how I could change the URL of my website to display another name domain I have just bought. When I changed it to christellebrouck.com to inner-gre8t.com, my website disappeared and now I can’t access my original name domain anymore (on WordPress and on Bluehost). When I log into my WordPress account now, it says that I don’t have a website and I need to create one.

I can’t find where to contact WordPress support directly — PLEASE HELP!!!

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Unknown
    Correct account: Unknown

I made the change in the wordpress website – under general settings.
The fields were: website url and website name (or something like that)
Do you know what I’m talking about?

    Hi there!

Changing the website address on the settings page like you did is generally not the correct way to change your domain. Usually, your host will have other options in place to help you change the domain. In this case, if you’re unable to log in to the site, you’ll want to contact your hosting service provider. As the site is on their servers, they can make corrections so that the site returns to normal.

Your site at christellebrouck.com is using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by Bluehost. We aren’t able to provide direct support for sites using WordPress.org as this forum is for WordPress.com sites. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check out this page: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

Please contact Bluehost support for assistance. If they refer you to WordPress support, you can post on the WordPress.org support forum here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums

Bluehost should also be able to help with the correct instructions for updating the domain for your site. Please follow those to use a different domain on your site.

    Regards
