Help on Several Topics

I’m trying to change the background of my wordpress blog and it’s not working. I’ve already uploaded a background image and saved it but it’s not getting applied to my blog. Now that I’ve logged in again, the background image is not uploaded when I know that I’ve already uploaded and saved it. Please advise what could be wrong.
Also, how do I search for the most popular communities for a certain topic? I know how to search the tags for a topic…but what if I want to check out the most popular blogs for, example, Game of Thrones? I don’t want to follow just any GoT blog I want to check which are the popular blogs for this show. Also, is there any way to check which blogs a blog is following? I checked someone’s blog but he/she had no ‘blogs I follow’ link???

Well, have you confirmed that your theme offers a customizable background? Check your dashboard Theme Options page under Appearance.
If you want to find the most popular blogs/links for certain topics, use Google. Put the subject and “site:wordpress.com” in the search box, as in this example:
Game of Thrones site:wordpress.com
There is no way to find out which blogs a blogger follows unless they use that widget.

Hi, thanks for the advise on the search. There’s a lot of results now, I just wish I would know which blogs were recommended on certain topics. There’s a ‘recommended blogs’ link here at wordpress but not for the topics I am interested in.
As for the background…I’ve been going to Appearance -> background in my dashboard and the page gives you the option to upload an image and save it. When I do that, nothing happens. So I’m not sure- I assume that you’re supposed to be able to change the background with the theme I have on (the default) since it gives you the option to upload an image?
