HELP! Our site is down and our login seems to have been altered so I can’t log in (were we hacked?)

  Our web site is currently down. I also could not log into it with what I know was the login information. Somehow, I finally logged in, using 2-factor authentication that went to someone else’s phone, who luckily I was able to call and ask for the code. I *saw* our Americans for Cures logo there. Then, I tried to change the user name to something that made more sense, and the Americans for Cures logo disappeared. Now it looks like the system thinks I want to create a new account and blog. I do not. What I want is to know *why* our site, http://www.americansforcures.org, is down! Please help!

  I am able to see americansforcures.org now, so perhaps the issue has been sorted out?

  However, should this happen again in the future, please be aware that your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open source WordPress software but hosted with Hostgator. WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
