HELP! Swaping URL of two blogs that I own – are my (assumed) directions correct?

    Hi All,
I want to swap the url of my primary blog and my newly created blog (I have admin rights on both). In other words I want to make our new Blog the Primary blog. As we have marketing materials with the current primary blog address we need to swap the urls. As I manage a University Blog I am afraid of making a ‘wrong move’ and losing our entire blog! I need a ‘dummy’ version step-by-step. Can someone please confirm if the following is correct? If it is incorrect, can you please tell me where I need to go, and what to do differently?
Step 1: Go to https://wordpress.com/me/account – change the primary account to the new Blog that is to replace the current one.
Step 2: Type in the web address field – the CURRENT Primary blog URL as we want the URL to stay the same and apply it to the new Primary Blog.
Step 3: Go to the ‘old’ Primary blog site (which is no longer the primary blog after doing the above steps) at https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/ . Click the edit address link – click on the site’s change address link and when at the WordPress.com Blog/Site Address Change page enter the new blog address (the OLD address of the NEW primary bog); confirm the address; click ‘no’ to matching username and leave discard current address blank.

If the above is incorrect please let me know exactly how to do the swap correctly!

Thanks and gratitude in abundance for help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • What content is on the new blog?

Manually changing blog addresses will lead to permanently deleting one inadvertently:

The better method is to export content from the new created site over to the old site.

Take a look at those support documents and let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
