help with backup before I reformat/switch themes on existing site
-
I want to change the format of my blog–more towards a web site look. I am a very basic user of WordPress, so need to keep it simple. I’m concerned about saving all of my existing content before I begin to experiment w/other themes. How do I do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You appear to currently be using a theme that has now been retired. Themes are retired when they can’t make use of all the improvements/changes constantly happening here at WordPress.com.
Changing themes shouldn’t remove any of your pages/posts content but it could upset any menus or widgets and suchlike you may have already set up. A backup only saves your content anyway, not theme, menus etc. That is why I prefer to keep another free site just for testing purposes where I can experiment with themes/fonts etc without disturbing my main site.
But having a file containing your content is always a good thing to own. Go to “Tools” “Export” in the wp-admin dashboard.
