Help with template vs pages

  I have been trying to design my website and have several pages that I am working on that are mostly finished. I had to publish the pages to include in navigation blocks but they are being overridden by a template design from a homepage that is not displaying the pages that I design, but only showing template designs and all the pages appear the same on the navigation tabs that you post. They do not show the pages that are saved and appear different with a ton of content. I do not want it to show the template design, but the page designs that are listed in my site design and editing page. I really just need someone to talk to try and explain this better and try to figure out how I can get the blank page designs I have created to display on the site and NOT the templates.
