  Hi there, I have just signed up to WordPress to create a website for my business. I have a domain name that I got through GoDaddy, and I would like to use it through WordPress (i.e. I do not want the .wordpress.com domain). How does this work?

  Hi there,

  To connect a domain you already own you’ll first need to buy one of our paid plans at My Site ->Plans.

  Next go to My Site ->Domains ->Add and pick the option to use a domain you already own. There you will have two options: Transfer or map.

  If you transfer the domain, it means you move the domain registration from GoDaddy to us, and going forward you’ll pay us to renew the domain each year. You’ll only be able to do this if your domain is at least 60 days old.

  Or you can leave the domain registered with GoDaddy and connect it here via a process called domain mapping. This means you’ll still pay GoDaddy to renew the domain each year, but you are using it with a site hosted on our servers.
