What is the .home.blog extension? I’m trying to add an additional blog to my account and when I’m choosing the domain, the free domain which is given is .home.blog, which is different to all my previous blogs, which have been .wordpress.com. Is this a new change?
I kind of like the .wordpress.com extension but I can’t seem to find it.

Hi @akoustiques, we added several new free .blog extensions so people will have more options:
Generally if you’re seeing .home.blog it either means you clicked on an ad for that, or then names you’re trying are taken. One way around this is to use a different browser temporarily, then head to (thenameyouwant).wordpress.com … if it’s available you’ll be given a link to choose that address.
Or, if you’ve already created a home.blog site and want to change it to WordPress.com, you can change the site URL to another address as long as it is not already taken.

Hi @supernovia, I’ve checked for an address which I’d like to create a blog at and it’s available (since I looked it up in another browser tab) but the wordpress.com option doesn’t come up when I try to register for it and only a free one with the home.blog extension appears. What should I do?

To get a .wordpress.com address make sure not to check or type anything in the first step of the creation process. By first step I mean this screen:
- The topic ‘.home.blog’ is closed to new replies.
