Homepage background colour settings

  Hi there,
  I’d be grateful for advice about how to change the automated light setting on my static homepage screen. It currently darkens the image I’m using as the background and I need to lighten it. I can’t find any settings to adjust this.
  Thank you any advice in advance (I’m a novice!)

  Are you talking about readingbetweenthelives.com? If so, I’m afraid that your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with SiteGround.

  Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere; we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.   Hi there,
  Sorry to bother you again – but I tried to login into wordpress.org and it says I don’t have an account. In contrast, I can log into wordpress.com
  Doesn’t this suggest I’m with wordpress.com?
  Sorry if I’m missing something. Would really appreciate any clarification.

  Hello there,

  Not at all, your site is definitely not hosted on wordpress.com. Even though it may show on your wordpress.com account.

  what you need to do is access the backend/dashboard of your site and you can do this either through your hosting CPanel or you can add /admin in front of your URL and use your credentials to log in
  e.g yourgroovysite.com/admin

  you will then be able to locate the customize menu and make the necessary changes you want.
