homepage suddenly a blank template
-
Hi, I am writing because my homepage has suddenly turned into a blank template even though I have not touched it.
I have tried all the usual advice like clear cache, cookies, data, etc. but nothing is working.
What can i do now?
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Empty template: Front Page
This is the message I see when I access your above site.
Is it possible that you accidentally deleted the Assembler homepage template? If you don’t see the homepage at all in your Pages dashboard, you can restore the default template by following this guide https://wordpress.com/support/templates/reset-a-template/ Whatever changes you made to the template will not be saved.
If the homepage appears in your Pages dashboard, you can roll back to the previous revision following this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/page-post-revisions/
Post back here if you need more help with this.

thanks for your answer.
i can see the homepage in my pages on the dashboard but when i click on it, there is only a blank pages with the “design” tab on the left and nothing else, no settings etc. -
Please grab a screenshot of what you see and then add it here with the /image block Thanks https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/

Also, there is a user reply at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/empty-template-index/#post-4051306 that might assist you, but post back here if you need more help.

OK-so once you are in the Site Editor, click on “Templates” then follow the steps outlined in either https://wordpress.com/support/templates/reset-a-template/ or in the user reply at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/empty-template-index/#post-4051306

Hey @valeriejanefivaz, you can edit the content of your homepage by navigating to Appearance> Editor > Templates > Front Page.

@mrfoxtalbot Thanks for chiming in. There seem to be a few site owners who have posted about their site front page suddenly becoming blank. https://wordpress.com/forums/topic-tag/empty-template/
Both Nook and Assembler themes were mentioned.
Perhaps there is an overall (maybe transient) issue there?
-
thank you, i did that but now all i have is the header and footer, i don’t have any of the rest of the homepage.
-

If you check your empty templates, you should be able to find the “Reset” and “View Revisions” options under the three dots menu.
I hope that helps!

I will investigate, thank you for flagging this!

@mrfoxtalbot as per @2020testjj ‘s advice, i reset the template and i can’t see the option to view revisions. i can’t even find different templates for the homepage. this is really frustrating, i spent a LOT of time on my homepage.

I did mention in my earlier reply that “you can restore the default template by following this guide https://wordpress.com/support/templates/reset-a-template/ Whatever changes you made to the template will not be saved.” (my emphasis)
However, it seems that the only templates that can be “reset” are the theme’s original, built-in templates and a warning appears in a pop-up box that you need to confirm when resetting the template.
Regardless, currently I’m seeing a lovely, personalized homepage on your site, so hopefully all is now well.

@valeriejanefivaz, if you are using the “Assembler” theme, you might be running into this issue.
Were you able to restore your homepage automatically or did you have to rebuild it manually?
