Homepage / Theme / Static Issues

I watched multiple videos and I can’t figure it out. I picked a theme and designed it. I have the menu options ready [home – about – contact] but when I go back and click ‘edit homepage’ it gives me options of either a blank or others. Not even a choice to pick the same theme layout. What am I doing wrong? It won’t even let me pick Home when I try and click the static feature. I made two ‘posts’ to see if that worked and it didn’t. I’ll let someone log into my account, I don’t care at this point. This is not user friendly for dopes like me

You are referring to videos you are finding on YouTube or by searching Google? One thing to be aware of is that there is more than one version of the WordPress platform.
Videos you find online usually refer to the self-hosted version of WordPress (which is used to set up sites on traditional web hosts like GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.) and that version has different options than you would find in a site on our managed WordPress.com service.
To clarify, are you trying to set up your site to look like the example you see here?https://wordpress.com/theme/intergalactic-2
There is setup instructions on that page (to give your site homepage a similar appearance) but we’re happy to answer any specific questions you have if you are feeling stuck. Thanks for the additional info!
