Hootsuite connection not working

Hello, I am trying to connect WordPress to my Hootsuite account however I am having an error message. The message from the Hootsuite page is. The WordPress app for HootSuite supports WordPress.org sites V 3.4+ Your WordPress site must be XML-RPC enabled. I do not know what this means, can someone please assist.

We actually meet both of those requirements (we enable XML_RPC by default and run on WordPress 5.6.2 at the time I write this) however, it seems that Hootsuite does not support WordPress.com connections based on what I found here: https://help.hootsuite.com/hc/en-us/articles/1260802305870#use-the-wordpress-app-0-2
The relevant passage from that page:
The WordPress.org app connects self-hosted blogs from WordPress.org to Hootsuite. WordPress.org sites must be XML-RPC enabled. Hootsuite does not support publishing to blogs hosted on WordPress.com.
So it seems in this case the error message you are seeing is a bit misleading, as we meet the requirements but they still are not able to connect to us.
However, you may wish to consider using our “Publicize” feature, which will automatically share new blog posts on social media. More info on how to set that up here: https://wordpress.com/support/publicize/
