  work out how to get an ecommerce site when I already pay for hosting on a different platform

  Hi there,

  What is your site’s address/domain? If you’re already paying for hosting with another provider, you’re using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. That’s not the same as WordPress.com.

  To make an ecommerce site you’ll need to install a plugin like WooCommerce. In your site’s dashboard, go to Plugins ->Add and search for the ecommerce plugin you want. Install it, and follow the plugin’s instructions to set up your store.

  For help with a specific ecommerce plugin it’s best to contact that plugin’s support directly.

  If, instead, you’d like to set up your site with us on WordPress.com, you’ll need to purchase our Business Plan to use ecommerce plugins here. In that case you can cancel the hosting you already have elsewhere, as we’ll be hosting your site, but don’t cancel your domain. You can connect or transfer the domain to us to use it with your WordPress.com site.
