  Are we able to create a word press site but host it internally on our own servers while still administering it?

  That is possible, yes, but then you’ll be using the open source version of WordPress found on WordPress.org.

  You can find the documentation for that software at https://wordpress.org/support/ – that has everything you need for installing WordPress on your own server.
