Hosting a blog

I have registered a domain name with register.com and I am not sure how to host that domain using WordPress. From reading and researching, it would appear as though I can’t simply use WordPress from my register.com account, but need to instal something? I am feeling a little lost with the entire process, clarity would go along way. Thank you!
