hosting and domain name

  I have a hosting website and domain name already that I purchased from another website. Do I still need to purchase anything from WordPress? I want to register to WordPress for free and upgrade later on.

  If you already have a domain and hosting elsewhere, you really don’t need wordpress.com. Insteda you must install the open source wordpress.org, https://wordpress.org/. Most hosting compagnies offer WordPress hosting.

  Hey @mainarachel, just to clarify the difference between our service and the free software: we provide SSL hosting, maintenance, security, and WordPress support for the sites hosted here with us.

  The free software is just software, but you already have a host, and if you’re comfortable handling the rest on your own or hiring help as needed, it can be a good fit.
