how are email followers calculated?

  I just started a wordpress.com blog. My stats say 10 hits. But 803 subscribers! How can I have racked up all those subscribers with only ten hits? Trying to figure out how that is calculated. my blog is http://woventalepress.com

  We also include your Facebook Friends and Twitter Followers in the total if you have connected Publicize to those services.

  what is Publicize? You mean a widget that automatically posts to FB and/or Twitter?

  Yes, that’s Publicize.

  If you have connected it to your Facebook or Twitter account, then your Facebook Friends and Twitter Followers are included in the total follower count.

  At Settings -> Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard, do you see any active connections there?
