    how can an invited viewer view a wordpress.com website

    Hi there,

    If they’ve accepted the invitation, they can view your site just like any other website – by typing the site’s URL in their browser. They’ll also be able to follow the site in the WordPress.com reader, just like any public WordPress.com site.

    Sir, Perhaps I did not word my question correctly. Kindly permit me to rephrase the question and furnish more details. Please bear with me for submitting a lengthy message.

    Both me, the host, and the invitee, the guest, are Google Account holders and we both use Chrome as our browser.

    Both me, the host, and the invitee, the guest, have wordpress.com accounts and websites. For purposes of illustration, let me use two dummy names for the wordpress.com account holders.

    Host.wordpress.com Guest.wordpress.com

    Host.wordpress.com is a PRIVATE website.

    Guest received an email from Host inviting Guest to Host’s website. Guest clicked on
    ACCEPT INVITATION.
    1. (Guest can accept the invitation ONLY ONCE.) When the invitation was accepted, a dialogue box appeared with the query “Would you like to be able to view Host’s Site”. Guest clicked on JOIN and was taken to a website. THIS WAS NOT Host.wordpress.com … It was Guest.wordpress.com !!!!

    Does this happen because Host.wordpress.com is a PRIVATE website? And does that imply that Guest can view Host.wordpress.com website only if it is made public? I prefer NOT to exercise this option.

    How does Guest get to view Host.wordpress.com as a “VIEWER”, if the only access that Guest got after clicking JOIN was his own website? That is my question.

    The only other question, how can Guest return to Host.wordpress.com a second time?

    I shall appreciate detailed instructions, if it is NOT too much of a bother to you.

    Yes, this is normal, as clicking that link would have taken them to their own account on WordPress.com. They only own one site, guest.wordpress.com, so that’s the only site they will see in their account.

    Accepting an invitation to your private site allows them to view the site by typing the direct url, host.wordpress.com, into their browser. But it does not add the site to the sites list in their account.

    How does Guest get to view Host.wordpress.com as a “VIEWER”,

    By opening a new tab in their browser, and typing the URL, host.wordpress.com, in the address bar.

    To give you any more help with this I’d need to know the actual URL of your private site and the username of the person that’s unable to access it.
