How can I create a free blog on wordpress.com without register domain?

It was always options to create or add domain. Is it no longer an option? How can I go pass the page that demand domain creation?

I need to create a blog for my school and I do not need domain. it was always possible to create a wordpress blog without domain. Is it still an option? I cannot pass the page (step 4 of 5) creation wizard because I MUST choose domain.
Please let me know!

I’m having the same problem. Yet no one has answered you after 4 weeks. This is bad. I thought this was supposed to be a FREE blog-hosting site. Where is the free option????

During the site creation process you get the select a Free address. Don’t you see something like this?

So it only gives you limited options for a free domain name?
The two options it’s giving me would be inappropriate for my blog topic.
I thought the free options would be something like,wordpress.com/[your-blog-name-here]
or
[your-blog-name-here].wordpress.comBut I’m not given either option.

You should see a suggestion that matches your search term as closely as possible, but especially with the WordPress.com subdomains the most popular terms have already been used, and if there’s nothing closely matching your blog name available, our system starts randomizing the address.
Do note you can change this free address later, so if the suggested term is not what you want, go ahead and register it anyway, then change the address:
