How can I get multiple users to be the same role?

I am trying to create multiple users to have the role of editor, but it gives them an error when they try and accept the invite –
Whoops, you can’t use an activation key you’ve created for someone else.
What does this mean? How can I get multiple users to be editors?? Is this even possible?
