How can I insert extra space between paragraphs?

  I would like to insert extra space (blank lines) between 2 paragraphs. I pressed enter (return) twice after the paragraph where the blank lines are needed and it looks perfect until I look at the preview. The preview eliminates the extra space. And when I go back to edit my post, the extra lines are missing there as well.
