How can I make the Home page a parent?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m trying to use the Home page as a parent (the website is bi-lingual) but it doesn’t work. It just doesn’t want to allow a submenu, but all my other pages do.

I read many topics on the same problem, and some are unanswered, some are for wordpress.org, and there really wasn’t an answer. My website is razvancostea.com.

    Hi there,

You can add sub-pages to your Home page by creating a custom menu. We have more about how to set up a custom menu here: Custom Menus

After you add a link to your Home page in your menu, you can add the other pages to your menu and make them sub-pages as described here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menus

Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

Thanks for answering. Unfortunatelly it was too complicated to be of help, but the good news is that I finally figured it out. This is the process, simple and step by step:

    1. Go to Appearance -> Menus-> Edit Menus tab
    2. Create a custom menu, name it, include the Home page and its subpage and hit Save
    3. Click on the Manage Locations tab (next to the Edit menus tab) and then select your menu as a Primary menu and click on Save changes.

Only this way it will work!
Hope I helped somebody (feel free to thank me on my blog ;) )
I also hope WordPress will fix this situation once and for all.

I’m sorry for not being clearer when I replied. The steps you mentioned are the ones I was trying to suggest with setting up a Custom Menu. I’m glad you were able to figure it out. :) Please let me know if I can provide any further help.
