How can I make the image (on my side bar) appear small?

  I was trying to put an image on the side bar, but the image came out humungous. I followed all the instructions. I didn’t leave the height and width blank. Do WordPress crop the image to make it smaller and fit or do I have to do it myself?

  I think I asked you the wrong question. Sorry. My issue is about profile image. I was trying to create an “About Me” or “Welcome To My Blog” with a little bio at the bottom. The profile image came out humungous. How do I make it smaller?
