How can I move existing posts to new pages I create?

    I would like my home page to have a short preview of my posts, but then i would like there to be pages regarding specific topics which my posts will fall under. I can create the pages just fine but I can’t figure out how to:
    1. move my existing posts to those pages
    2. make my home page condense the posts into a preview and I would also want them side by side instead of just a vertical list.

    Can you help me?

    Hi there,

    1. move my existing posts to those pages

    You can do this by setting up Category Pages instead of regular pages. That way, you can add a specific category to each post and the post will appear on that category’s page automatically.

    2. make my home page condense the posts into a preview

    You can make it so your home page only shows a preview or excerpt of a post by adding a More Tag to the post. Everything you write above the more tag will appear on the home page, and visitors will have to click through to read the rest of the post.

    I would also want them side by side instead of just a vertical list.

    There isn’t a way to do that with the Hemingway Rewritten theme you’re using. The way posts appear on the home page is part of the theme’s design, so there isn’t a built-in way to change that.

    There may be a way to customize that using Custom CSS, part of the Custom Design upgrade, but it would take some knowledge of CSS and some work to get it to look just the way you want it. An easier approach would be to look for a different theme that has that kind of layout. For example, you might be interested in Triton Lite or Suburbia.

    I was able to successfully follow the steps you suggested and my page looks much better. I am browing the other themes to find one that has the home page style that I like and continue to work on my existing posts so that they look cleaner.
