How can I post a GoFundMe link on my free WordPress.com site?

    Hi. I read that you can only use the GoFundMe widget on WordPress if you have one of the paid plans. I currently have the free site, but would like to post the link to a GoFundMe for my wife who had brain surgery. Any ideas how best to do this (other than just creating a post to do it)? Thank you.

    Hi there,

    Firstly, best of luck on your wife’s recovery! You did not mention but to clarify, you are trying to add this to your site sidebar (so it shows up on all pages of the site) yes?

    One workaround I might suggest is to create a button, which can be added to your sidebar using an image widget. To do that, first create a button here:

    Da Button Factory – Free CTA Button Generator

    Once you customize the button text and color, chose the option to download it as either a .jpg or .png image file. This will download a graphic to your computer (looks like a button) and you can then add that to an image widget in your sidebar: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/image-widget/

    In the settings for the widget is a place to add a URL, you can add your GoFundMe URL to that and then save your settings. What you will see on your site is a button in the sidebar that if someone clicks on it will redirect them to your GoFundMe page, where they can leave a donation.
