How can I relese the domain name I have related to my ex-blog?

    Dear sir or madame,
the day before yesterday I opened a new account in wordpress and changed the primary domain to http://www.liveinathens.net.
Then I desided that I will use a godaddy server and install a wordpress template there.
Even though I have changed the DNS to point godaddy, the domain name http://www.liveinathens.net still points to wordpress home page.
The most weird is that some times it happens, some not. Like something is changing during the day!
    What is going on???
Please help asap as I have to upload the site!

    Best regards
    Andreas

  • http://liveinathens.net/ is definitely pointing elsewhere.

It can take domain changes up to 72 hours (though usually much less) to propagate to your ISP. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your ISP refreshes their DNS cache.

Dear Macmanx thanks for the reply!
How is that possible for the DNS to point to a different direction every now and then when nobody is changing them?
I mean yesterday I was working on the new site (all ok) and now again is back to wordpress!
Cant you detach the domain from your databases???

That’s definitely propagation. Most ISP’s employ multiple DNS caches, and not all DNS caches update at the same time. Depending on which DNS cache you’re connecting through, a domain may go to 2 different places while the change is still propagating.

I have cancelled and refunded your domain mapping, but this won’t affect propagation. That’s entirely up to how often your DNS refreshes their cache.

The funny part is that I get to my site from chrome, but not from opera and explorer.
Yesterday it was Opera I was working on!

    No worries.
Thank you for the info and the refund!
