How can you post videos with the new setup?
-
I used to be able to embed videos on my blog through DailyMotion, but WordPress changed the media format and I can’t seem to anymore. Instead of actually posting the video it just posts a link to it.
I also checked the WordPress info about embeding video and it’s outdated; they haven’t updated it since it’s changed. Is there a way I can still embed videos on my blog without actually upgrading?

You can post videos from DailyMotion following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/dailymotion/
-
That is the guide I tried to use and it’s outdated, or at least seems to be. That’s how I always used to post videos, but now it’s not working with the new format.

It looks like you have inserted it as a link.
You’ll need to paste in just the full URL, not a link. Otherwise, it won’t embed.
-
I did try pasting in the full URL and that didn’t work either. Can you give me an example of what that would look like? Cause that’s not what the tutorial you posted said to do and I couldn’t get it to work when I tried just using the full URL.
I tried the URL in the window at DailyMotion, which looks like this:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xngz9k_dumpt-jump_lifestyleI tried using the Embed option that DailyMotion gave me, which looks like this:
<iframe frameborder=”0″ width=”480″ height=”360″ src=”http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/xngz9k_dumpt-jump_lifestyle”></iframe>
Dumpt (Jump) <i>by dalasmueller</i>And I also tired using the export URL that they gave me which looks like this:
http://dai.ly/AABe40None of these worked. What am I doing wrong?
-
Ah, I’m sorry the URL method won’t work.
You’ll need to follow the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/dailymotion/ and use the shortcode.
For example:
[dailymotion id=xngz9k] -
-
It seems to be working just fine now: http://crunchylutheranmommy.wordpress.com/2012/01/05/dumpt/
I didn’t do anything besides just paste in the shortcode.
-
Thank you! I’m still not sure what I was doing wrong, but I’ll take a look at the code as see if I can figure it out.

Hmm… it seems that the audio is working but not the video. I tried reposting it and had the same problem. Any suggestions?
-
If that’s the case, then there’s a problem with the video itself, and I recommend contacting DailyMotion.
We only embed exactly what they give us, we don’t make any alterations on this end.
-
The video works on DailyMotion just fine. It’s only on WordPress that I’ve been having trouble.
-
Yes, but we have no control over the content that’s sent to us, we don’t modify it.
We simply request an embeddable player and the video from DailyMotion, and that’s what they sent for that instance.
