How come my posts do not appear on Google or any other search engine?

I am not as active as I used to be- years ago if I wrote about a concert– I would put “key words” in the search and my blog would always appear on google or other search engines.
More recently- especially since I just wrote a piece on Chris Cornell- I put in “tag” words and even if I write out the exact tag words- I can’t find what I have written on google or any other search engine.
Do I need to pay word press for this to be sent out to google or other search engines? What am I doing wrong?
