How come my settings aren't loading?

    I can’t get to the settings for my page. Soon as we start on our main page there’s the “gear icon” for our settings mine just keeps buffering for hours (I know this I’ve gone out and come back and it was still buffering) and I can’t access my settings I’ve tried firefox, google, netscape, opra and IE and none work for getting the darn thing to load so I can change my privacy settings… now what?

    The site admin can change privacy settings directly in the site Dashboard, which for the above site would be Dashboard>Settings>Privacy

    I go to Settings and I see listed down the side to the left…
    Account
    Password
    Public Profile
    My Apps

    there is nothing for me to go to that allows me to change my privacy settings… not even on the tabs on the top of the screen…. (Should I screen shot this so you know what I’m seeing, cause I’m confused…it might be because mines not a paid for account)

    I’m referring to the site’s Settings under the site’s Dashboard, not your personal Settings under “My Blogs” on the WordPress.com homepage.

    To get to the site’s Dashboard, click on the relevant site’s Dashboard link on the “My Blogs” page and once there >Settings>Privacy.

    across the top I see

    along the side (on the left) I see

    Blogs I Follow
    Find Friends
    Recommended Blogs
    Posts I Like
    Topics
    Art
    Blogging
    Life
    Long Reads
    MEMORIAL DAY
    Photography
    Postaday
    Summer
    Travel

    an open search box so I can pick a topic and then the word
    Follow as a button….

    now if I click on the gear it just buffers & I keep seeing this moving circle… for hours… but once in a while I get listed down the side to the left…

    if I click on “my blog” (thou confusing as it is from the last post…I’m not sure if I should or not as I don’t seem to be getting what you’re saying)
    I see the name of my primary blog and then a section below that allows me to create another blog

    but if I look at the VERY bottom of the page I see privacy and if I click on that I end up here: http://automattic.com/privacy/
    which isn’t what I want… all I want to do is change my settings so people can see my blog even in web serches… this is so bloody fusterating!

    Dashboard, not main WordPress.com page (which is your screenshot).

    You can get to the Dashboard by either clicking on the My Blogs tab in the main WordPress.com page and then clicking Dashboard underneath the name of the blog or by hovering your mouse over your username in the Admin Bar that appears at the top right of this page and following the link in the dropdown menu.

    When you get to the Dashboard, under Settings>Privacy

    As far as other problems you are having with things loading on the WordPress.com, what OS and browser/version are you using? Have you tried logging out, clearing your browser cache and cookies, shutting down your browser and then starting it again?
