How do I access the code for my site?
-
I would like to remove “Blog at worldpress.com. Theme: AutoFocus by Allan Cole” from the footer of the theme on my blog (www.sainteterrer.com). I have found various suggestions for code to paste into a footer.php file, but I cannot find how to even access the code for my site. Please help.

I’m sorry, it’s not allowed to change the footer credits. Even our VIP bloggers are required to maintain the credit.
Please note that there are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.

Thank you Kardotim. Just one more quick question. I have read that having that footer credit there makes it so that your blog does not come up in search engine results, because they see it as advertising or spam or something. Is that true?

No, that is definitely not true. Where did you hear that?
If you’re concerned, feel free to find any WordPress.com blog, like http://macmanx.com/ or http://matt.wordpress.com/ and search for it in Google.

I can’t remember exactly where I read it. I was trying to get rid of the credit line for aesthetic reasons, so I typed something like “how do I delete ‘blog at wordpress.com’ from the bottom of my theme,” and in one of the responses I was reading, someone had said something about the code in those footers being spammy and hard to decode, and that google picks that up and filters you out. But you are right about it not being true. Yesterday (1st day my blog was up) it wasn’t showing up, and I thought that was why, but now it’s right at the top, so obviously its not a problem. Thanks again!
