How do I access the TypeKit fonts on my site?

I’m using iTheme2 and I want to change the fonts beyond the standard set you offer.I went to the TypeKit site, signed up for a Personal Acct (not the freebie) and selected a couple of fonts I’d like to use all over my site. I purchased the Custom Design option. Do I need to implement these thru CSS (which I know nothing about??) I entered the TypeKit ID in the proper spot but I can’t find how to access these new fonts to use on my site. I asked this question weeks ago but never got an answer.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • You can access the custom fonts we provide via Appearance -> Custom Design in your blog’s Dashboard.

As for additional fonts from Typekit, you’ll need to contact Typekit for help with that.

    Thanks for your response BUT…
Let me further clarify my situation (as I’ve gone down all these “roads” many times to no avail.)

I go to Appearance-> Custom Design (which says: “Upgrade Active”), I’m given 2 boxed options: 1) Custom CSS (which I know nothing about. If I have to use CSS to access these fonts, let me know). Option 2 is Custom Fonts – I select the Change Fonts button. The top tab go to FONTS (fine) and under the words Custom Fonts, it says “Currently Used Fonts”, below that is my Typekit Kit ID code. (and below that is a list of the two font families I bought, not in any form to select them for use, just with the variants listed as 3 digit numbers and style).

I click on the Save your TypeKit ID. It tells me: “You’ve successfully added this kit to your blog The fonts in this kit will be loaded on each page of your blog. If the fonts aren’t working, make sure that you’ve included isensei.info, *.wordpress.com in the domains for your kit.” (which I have)
BUT, I can’t find where to select these fonts for use on my site/posts. I’ve been working with the Mac and page layout/design tools for 20+ years, I teach classes on using these machines and I’ve rarely felt this frustrated.

If I select the link: Edit kit at Typekit, I come to a TK page with samples of all the available fonts. I see my two fonts (Minion Pro and Myriad Pro), with the Heart icons on them. I pass over them and the little green window pops up to tell me “In Kit”.

Now here’s where I get confused: I Launch TypeKit Editor, read “how to use the fonts” but I don’t get the “SELECTOR” part. WHAT do I put in that box?? I’ve tried typing in the Font names, but that doesn’t seem to do anything, tho they do show up right below within greyed-out ‘button/tags’. But that’s with one of my fonts selected in the right column and when I select the other (Minion), one of those button/tags shows up at the top “.tk-minion-pro”. HUH? But the Selector slot is still blank.

And by now I’ve also selected Default for Lang. Supp., Selected specific weights and styles for each of the two fonts (not all, maybe 2/3s of available styles). Click on the PUBLISH button below, as told. Tells me its updating, take a few minutes to distribute etc etc.

But then what? EMBED CODE at the top just gives me my Kit ID (I have already), w instructions for a non-wordpress site (not relevant). KIT SETTINGS just shows what I already know (domains, etc)

SO, where do I go, specifically, to select using these purchased fonts (Min & Myr), so I can assign them to things like “Paragraph”, “Heading 1” etc etc?? And please, if you tell me to got to this or that page, give me a brief description of what I should see on the page, in case I get different results.

I would rather just called someone up at TypeKit, as I’ve spent hours now on this problem and email is NOT the best way to explain things like this. And I try very hard to be clear. (Please pass on to your supervisor or whoever, that for your customer’s sake, a phone support option, of some kind, is offered)
I truly appreciate any help you can offer me to make use of these fonts. I want them but if I can’t use them, I’ll just have to cancel my account.

  • Everything is set correctly on this end, unfortunately that’s all we can support.

You’ll need to contact Typekit regarding the issue on their end.
