How do I activate plugins?

  How do I activate the Mailchimp plugin? I’ve already downloaded and installed it on my computer and uploaded it into the WP content directory. I’m trying to add a way for people to opt in to my newsletter from my website. Thank you!

  We don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins are a feature only available for self-hosted blogs provided through WordPress.org. You can find out more about this topic here: http://support.wordpress.com/plugins/

  However, we do have our own built-in email subscription service. Just add the Follow Blog widget via Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard.
