How Do I Add an Outside Theme To My Website

  I have a theme that I have found from another source that I would like to use for my website. I saw that there used to be an Upload Theme area on WordPress, but now I see that that is no longer available. Could you please let me know how to best go about uploading this outside theme so I can use it for my website? Thank you for your help!

  Themes can’t be uploaded to blogs hosted on WordPress.com. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

  So, I started running my blog on HostGator, is that then a self-hosted blog then? (I know some about building a blog, but not a lot) In addition, I tried downloading some WordPress software…that I’m assuming has to do with WordPress.org, but it will not complete downloading on my computer for me to open. What do I do to get my blog then running on WordPress.org so I can use the particular theme that would suit my business best?

  The best place for help with self-hosted WordPress.org site issues would be the WordPress.org support resources:

  WordPress.com site staff do not have access to your files or webserver and thus cannot assist in setting up self-hosted sites.
